This week was a reasonably successful week for the Club with the 1st XI winning in the last ball of a nerve racking game agiainst Ifield 1st XI. The 3rd XI also thrashed Horsham Trinity 2nd XI however, the 2nd XI lost to Ifield 2nd XI. The sunday 2nds lost in a tight game against Brighton Beamers.

After back to back defeats, the Ist XI managed to grab a much needed win at home to Ifield. Stand in captain, James Iago won the toss and decided to bowl. Ifield got off to a reasonable start being 53-1 after around 15 overs, however Harry Metters managed to pick up 3 quick wickets with Felix Jordan also grabbing one. This left Ifield on 69-5 and in a position where they had to rebuild. After a few partnerships later on in the batting order Ifield finished off with 161 all out. Wickets, James Iago 3, Harry Metters 3, Jack Metters 2, Felix Jordan 1. 1 run out.

Findon went out to bat against a strong Ifield bowling lineup, and didn’t get off to a great start losing both openers losing their wickets before we had reached 15. However, as required Felix Jordan and Glen Bridson put on a 72 run partnership, which set a decent platform for the middle/late order. Felix made 36 and Glen later brought up his first 1st XI league fifty as we moved on to a position where we needed around 50 runs with 6 wickets remaining off 10 overs. We ended up in a postion after a mini collapse needing 22 of the final 2 overs with just 2 wickets remaining. Harry Metters hit 8 runs of the first 5 balls of the second to last over with Findon then needing 14 off 7 balls. On que Graham Manser hit a vital 6, leaving us 8 to win of the last over. Harry hit 7 runs of the first 4 balls of the final over leaving us with 2 balls remaining needing 1 run to win. Graham Manser then got stumped leaving young debutant Samuel Dunkley needing 1 run to win of the final delivery of the match. As required Sam Dunkley inside edged the ball to short fine leg and was quick enough to get up the other end in time!!!!!! Findon win in the final ball!!  Scorecard>>>>>        http://findon.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=11362060
