History

 

Formed in 1867, Findon Cricket Club has a proud history with a philosophy of good cricket, good friends, good beer.

Located in the heart of the Sussex Downs, Findon CC is situated just north of Worthing in West Sussex.

Findon CC is the most successful club in the history of the Sussex Invitation Cricket League. In 2004, Findon CC were crowned SICL Champions for the fifth time in a row, a record ninth title. In 2007, both first and second XI’s won the first division title, in their last season in the Invitation league. Since 2008, they have participated in the Sussex Cricket League.

With 3 teams in the SCL plus a friendly Sunday XI and a midweek XI, Findon CC has around 60 senior playing members. In 2003 and 2004, Findon reached the semi-final of the npower National Village Knockout. Whilst in 2007 they reached the final at Lord’s, where they were narrowly defeated.

The club’s junior section offers cricket for nearly 100 youngsters, aged from six to sixteen. In 2006, a new clubhouse extension has been built to improve the standards of the club’s facilities.

Findon CC is more than just a cricket club. Members organise a number of social events throughout the year.

As a non-profit-making organisation, Findon CC relies upon the annual subscriptions and match fees from its members. We also rely upon fundraising, and the generosity and goodwill of the local community.
