Findon’s 1st XI were hoping for a draw between Goring  and Bexhill and a victory against Ifield to seal promotion to the top flight of Sussex cricket.

Unfortunately Bexhill battered Goring and Findon could only manage a draw against Ifield who posted a fine total of 246-6. In reply Findon managed 189-8 with Aussie Andrew Crosland scoring 68, his highest league score at Long Furlong, in his final game of his stint as overseas player.

These two results left Findon in fourth place with Eastbourne and Bexhill both getting promotion back to the Premier League, one year after relegation.

Findon should be pleased they took the season to the final game and will have a much more optimistic outlook for 2014.

Findon 2nd XI achieved promotion to the Sussex 2nd XI Premier League next year and will look forward to playing on the main pitches of the top Sussex clubs.

The 3rd XI who were in contention for promotion until the final few games of the season finished a creditable fourth place.
