Following on from the AGM which took place on Friday the 26th January 2018, we are delighted to announce Mandy Bridson as Findon Cricket Club’s new Chairman. Toby Kingsbury will ably support Mandy in his position of Vice-Chairman.
Mandy brings a wealth of experience to the club, both in business and cricket. For those that do not know Mandy she is the mother of current 1st XI captain, Bradley, 1st XI wicket keeper batsman, Glen, and ex player Daniel. Mandy, alongside her brother, also runs a successful local family business which was established in 1987 – Rabbit Waste Management. Rabbit have also been the lead sponsor for the club over the last five years. Mandy is also a current board member of Sussex Cricket Club, a position she has held for the past three years where she chairs the health and safety committee and helped with the appointment of Rob Andrew as CEO of Sussex Cricket Club last year.
Toby joins the committee for the first time as vice chairman. Most of you probably know Toby from his playing days for the club where he scored a magnificent hundred in the 2007 National Village cup final at Lords.
Mandy has written the following statement, she would like to present;
“First of all I would like to thank you for voting me in as your chairman for this year. I am looking forward to working with the new committee and loyal members. I realise the past chairmen has left big shoes to fill and would like to thank both Gary Howell and Paul Judges for all their hard work over the last seven years.
Why I want to do the job? My 3 boys all grew up in a safe environment, that safe environment was called Findon Cricket club, we all want this safe environment for young people to continue for another 150 years. There is so much going on in this world these days but we want people to continue to play cricket, enjoy the game and participate at Findon Cricket Club. My vision for the club is to create ‘TEAM” Findon both on and off the pitch. I need the help of members to help co-create this vision. As a new committee we will make mistakes with new ideas, but communication is the key. I don’t want anything but a supportive spirit from all our fellow members. Our first committee meeting will be 7th February, where we will be prioritising what needs to be done for the club first. I am very happy to have Toby Kingsbury as my Vice-Chairman, Toby is a highly respected cricketer with players and spectators alike. Current plans involve the use of higher profile coaches to provide coaching for our juniors and seniors. Matt Machan, ex Sussex Cricket and Scotland International will be coaching throughout the summer for two evenings a week. “
Other changes to the committee have resulted in Dave Young appointed the new house chairman, and we also introduce additional committee members in, Simon Buckley, Simon Cairns, John Cox plus John Rogers will be returning to the committee.
We would like to place on record are thanks and gratitude to Gary Howell and Paul Judges for the leadership for last seven and ten years respectively as Chairman and Vice Chairman, and we are delighted that both will still continue to support the committee in various positions.
On the playing side of things, Bradley Bridson continues as club captain, with Curtis Howell re-appointed Vice-captain for the 2018 season where he will deputise for Bradley as he recovers from his ACL operation.
Carrig Connolly replaces Simon Legge as the 2nd XI skipper and Jamie Lewis has been appointed his Vice-captain. Nigel Lambert has been appointed 3rd XI skipper after Peter Hughes decided to stand down after 8 years in charge, we thank you Peter for all your hard work and commitment to the side.
